The title controversy over Thuppakki

is finally sorted out! With the Kalla

Thuppakki team withdrawing the

case, the title ‘Thuppakki’ will now

be with Ilayathalapathy Vijay. Quiz

director A R Murugadoss and he

says, “A title is the lifeline of any

film. It is a difficult task to register

any new title with the audience.

Thuppakki has been very close to

my heart. It had an instant reach

when the posters were out. I really

didn’t want to miss it. I was

stubborn about retaining it and

now, I’m happy about bagging it.”

Cinematographer Santhosh Sivan is

also a happy man, now that the

issue is resolved. He says, “I think

this title is appropriate because

after watching the film, the viewers

will have a different perspective.”

In one way, the issue has turned

out to be good publicity for the

film.

Producer Dhanu says, “The

controversy over the title issue

helped us to reach out to the

masses. The title is more popular

now. Thuppakki has been facing

issues right from the release of its

poster. All these problems have

strengthened the Thuppakki team.

Vijay fans all over the world are

celebrating the film even before its

release.”

Now that all is well, the team is

planning to address the press soon.

This will be followed by the audio

launch that will be held in the city.

Says the director, “I believe in the

quality of the music more than a

lavish launch. If the songs are good,

it will reach the audience in its own

way. The focus now is on the songs

by Harris and not the launch.”
